Walks with Penny
Penny is super athletic and LOVES to go on long walks. Whether it's on the trails...
... or in the neighborhood...
And it's hard not to smile when you have this goofy girl prancing next to you! Check out that trot!

Slurp Slurp
We went for another long walk today and I Penelope did great with her leash work! When we first brought her home she thought the leash just had to be a toy and we were trying to play tug with her. Thankfully, Penelope is very smart and takes correction perfectly. So within a couple walks she is already starting to heel nicely. Of course, it was pretty darn hot outside so the pups wanted lots of water when we got back to the house...
Penelope is a bit of a messy slurper... Ha ha.
She is also super happy! Just look at the smile on her face!

Penelope's First Day
Miss Penelope was super happy to come home with me today! She hopped right into my car and started enjoying the breeze from the front windows. She sure loves car rides, which is good because we were headed home to Northern Virginia!
When we got home Penelope got to meet our crazy pack of pups - a bossy terrier, a shy shepherd, and a goofy pit bull. Penelope was super friendly and submissive with our pups so they made her an instant member of the pack.
After some playtime and a long walk, Penelope was finally tired and decided it was time to enjoy one of her new fluffy dog beds.
Penelope is very happy to be in a home and I am very happy I was able to meet her when I did. She should be a lot of fun to foster.

When I met Penelope
The first time I met Miss Penelope she was quietly staring out of her kennel. She had been at the shelter for over three weeks and was considered extremely fearful when she first arrived. She had definitely blossomed at WHS because this sweet girl was happy to see me when I started talking to her from the gate. I put my fingers against the door and she started licking them. I was smitten.
I took her out of the kennel to hang out and go for a walk. She was hopping and bouncing everywhere and I noticed she pranced everywhere she went. I found it to be absolutely adorable.
They said that her wiggle walk was likely caused by something neurological. It wasn't an issue and didn't bother her. It didn't require any treatment. She just trotted here and there like a pony. They also told me that she needed a foster home. I promised Miss Penelope that I would take her home tomorrow and said good night to my new foster dog. I just couldn't say no to that face!
